Starting July 1, 2021, two Colorado laws concerning the safe storage of guns go into effect. House Bill 1106 states that anyone who owns a weapon and can reasonably know that a “juvenile or a resident who is ineligible to possess a firearm can gain access to the firearm” is required to store said firearms with a lock or in a gun safe. In addition, Senate Bill 78 stipulates that a failure to report a lost or stolen gun can result in a civil offense fine of up to $500.
